Don’t teach them how to be caring, SHOW them how to be caring.
Being a parent is serious business right?!
We want to get it right.
That’s why it’s easy to start obsessing, worrying, and getting anxious about our kid’s behavior.
They need to learn to be kind, responsible, motivated, compassionate, determined, a hard worker, etc…
But how?
Studies show 80% of what kids learn comes as a result of modeling.
Showing up and BEING caring, compassionate, responsible, kind, motivated, etc…is more powerful than explaining or teaching it.
Being it in real life is the most powerful teacher.
This is great news.
You don’t have to learn the ‘right’ way to teach these values.
Just work on embodying them and living them, and your kids will learn as they interact with you.
Don’t use this information to beat yourself up!!
Nothing has gone wrong.
You’ve been doing your best, with the tools you’ve had.
Instead of feeling discouraged…
Get curious.
Pull out a piece of paper and ask yourself…
What do I want to model today?Who am I being today?What am I believing about myself today?What am I believing about my kids today?
You don’t need to make big shifts for it to make a BIG difference.
It starts by shifting something 1% a day.
Over a year this creates over a 100% shift.
